Rebecca Rittgers, Board Member
Rebecca Rittgers is currently a Senior Program Executive with the Social Justice Program at The Arcus Foundation in New York. Her work involves moving philanthropic resources and cross-sector alliances in support of efforts internationally that advance the access of rights and justice for the LGBT community. Prior to joining Arcus in September 2011, Rebecca was a Program Executive with the US Reconciliation and Human Rights program at The Atlantic Philanthropies. Her work with Atlantic started in 2001 as she helped shape its work in promoting higher education and public health in Viet Nam and Australia. In 2004, she developed Atlantic's US Human Rights and Reconciliation portfolio, and led that grantmaking until her departure in 2010. During this period, Rebecca successfully built coalition and field capacity in a number of US human rights movements, including immigrant rights, ex-felon disenfranchisement, and abolition of the death penalty. Rebecca lives in New Jersey with her partner of 25 years and their teenage daughter.
