Mona is the Director of Advocacy and Campaigns at Equal Justice USA. She works with Equal Justice USA staff and partners to reduce the harm of the current system and build transformational solutions to violence. Her work supports campaigns and organizing to end extreme sentences, build community centered solutions to violence, and create systemic solutions for safe communities. She uses her expertise in community based organizing and policy change to provide training, strategic guidance, and hands-on assistance to state/local legislative campaigns across the country. Before joining EJUSA in 2009, Mona spent 10 years with Amnesty International, supporting human rights campaigners across the globe to build grassroots power, educate, and implement human rights centered policy.
